Our President!
Aryx Mijangos was one of the original founders of the club who decided to create it after being disappointed by the lack of LGBTQ activity on campus.
One of her life goals is to learn as many languages as possible, especially German. She currently works at the GCC Art Gallery.
Her passion has always been art and she chose to major in graphic design to fulfill her dream of having art as her life career. Most of her artwork is based on the idea of challenging people's perception of beauty as a part of the LGBTQ community. She hopes to inspire women to feel empowered, confident, and comfortable in their own skin. She also hopes to one day be able to open a gallery to display her work.
She enjoys music, singing, walking through museums, Star Wars, but most of all, people. As a strong supporter of anything LGBTQ related she hopes to be able to use her people skills to change the lives and history of the LGBTQ community.
She fully came out to her family as Lesbian about two years ago after struggling with identity and labels. She always knew she was attracted to the same sex, and came out as bisexual to friends in highschool, but she realized that it wasn’t whom she really was. Although there have been bumps in the road with family and friends she feels comfortable knowing that she doesn’t have to hide certain aspects of herself anymore. She hopes that GSA will help anyone in the stages of coming out and coping with family and friends.
A President is... in charge of all the decisions made for the club. He/She supervises and oversees that everything is running smoothly. All the responsibility falls on his/her shoulders, making this job a challenging one. He/She understands the power given to them, and uses fully to keep the club growing and accomplishing its goals.

Our Vice-President!
Alex Smith has been a member of the GSA for
two semesters is currently vice-president. He has always wanted to contribute
to the LGBTQ community.
He was always passionate about art. In the future, he hopes to work in the movies or video gaming industry as a graphic designer. This may not be a direction that is set in stone, but it is one that has always held promise.
He loves music, movies, and television shows. The bands that he listens to are Sublime, Muse, Queens of the Stone Age, and many more. He is a hardcore Tarantino fan and always anticipates his next movie. On his spare time he likes going to concerts, going hiking, and being a part of other clubs on campus.
Salt Lake City was where he grew up since he was ten, a conservative and slowly progressing city when it came to accepting anyone who belonged to the LGBTQ community. Naturally, he was always afraid and nervous about exposing his orientation to others. His fear of being found out kept him in the closet until he was 21, and even then he was afraid to tell anyone outside the social sphere of his friends and family.
He worked in Salt Lake City at Discover Card and decided it was time for a change. He moved to Los Angeles in August 2012 and has been going to Glendale Community College working toward his general education in order to transfer to a four-year university.
Now that he is in California, the fear of being found out as a homosexual does not hold so much weight. In fact, it empowered him and his wish is to share that same feeling of empowerment to members of his community.
As Vice President, his hope is to make everyone in the club feel involved. He wishes guide others from the feeling of fear and isolation that can come with any orientation that is criticized, knowing that these feelings are not conducive to living a healthy and happy life.
A Vice President is the presidents right hand. If and when the president is absent, all responsibilities fall on the vice. They make sure to keep everything running smoothly and can over see many of the decisions made in the club.

Our Treasurer!
After being a club member for many semesters, Galen Harrill joins us as treasurer.
He is studying English literature and mythology, and plans to major in World Arts & Culture.
His dream is to be an author, and to draw comics with gay protagonists, because he’s felt lonely seeing so few of those relationships in the media, and wants to make things better for anyone who’s felt the same.
He likes music with high energy, and songs he can’t understand. His favorite singers are Halko Momoi, (whom he idolizes) Jade Valerie, (of Final Fantasy X-2 fame) and Lady Gaga, but he also has been known to listen to metal and horror-themed music.
He loves to perform, though his singing and dancing is questionable. He also has a long history of high school plays.
He came out as gay when he was 17, an experience that had surprisingly few bumps considering his prior dread. Year by year he strives to become more involved with the LGBTQ community, and has recently taken large steps toward that goal, volunteering at the LA Gay and Lesbian Center, and taking this position in this club.
A Treasurer is... in charge of the money in the club. He/She has to budget every event, fundraiser, and collect earnings the club makes. He/She is also responsible to keep track of the financial part of the club and has access to the Student Bank to deposit or withdrawal earnings for the club.

Our I.O.C Representative!
Andrew Haggerty has been a member of the GSA since Spring 2013 and now joins the club as the IOC Representative.
Andrew is an avid Star Trek fan, or Trekkie, and enjoys mentioning it wherever possible. Like many people before him, Star Trek has driven Andrew into the computer sciences with hopes of working hands-on with computer hardware in a field where technicians are becoming scarce.
He enjoys anime, RPG’s and rock music. His favorite classic rock bands are The Beatles, The Who, Pink Floyd, and Cream and his favorite modern day bands are Nine Inch Nails, Cake, and Fall Out Boy.
La Crescenta has been his home for many years now and he hopes it will remain that way until he is finished with school. During his years at Rosemont Middle School he became severely depressed while being bullied on a daily basis leading to a confusing two years as he attended several schools, finally ending up in homeschooling before entering high school. In high school at Clark Magnet, he again became depressed and eventually dropped out of high school until nearly his third year when he entered back into classes. He would graduate on his birthday in 2009 from his second high school, Foothills, after which he assisted in a project to prevent the school’s shutdown due to budget cuts. Sadly, Foothills is now shut down.
At Foothills, Andrew decided to have a very difficult chat with his parent’s where he raised the possibility of being bi. Luckily his parent’s accepted his comments and it never was an issue again. At this point in time he will tell you he is straight, however he keeps an open mind.
An IOC Representative is the GSA’s voice among all clubs at GCC. He keeps the club informed of any activities being held by other groups, and other major events on campus.
